VRMA GOLF TOURNAMENT

IT was a triumph for the canny Kiwi Tony Kneebone in the 2025 VRMA Golf Day at Northern Golf Club on Monday morning on August 11.

The man behind the Winning Post proved to be a comfortable winner of the Individual competition and took home a big array of trophies and prizes provided by Southside Racing.

Kneebone took home an engraved plate provided by Southside Racing and they also provided the brand-new perpetual trophy for the individual winner.

Plus he received a $100 voucher provided by Southside Racing and a Melbourne Racing Club

Kneebone finished with 39 points in the stableford competition. He defeated Racing Victoria’s Jake Germanchis, former superstar jockey Brent Thomson and Brad Bishop.  Second and third took out $60 and $40 vouchers respectively plus the first four took home won a MRC membership and a MRC beanie.

He was also part of the winning team with a four ball best ball stableford score of 48. He was joined by Gil Gardiner,  Michael Manley and Joe McGrath from the VRC. 

They took out the $500 Dining Voucher from Southside Racing and the old Racing Media trophy.

They defeated a Melbourne Racing Club team and the Fairway Golf team.

The day proved to be a great success with a record 38 players.

Brian Meldrum’s organisational and hosting skills came to the fore on the day with assistance from Craig Brennan and Michael Manley.
